NationBuilder is upgrading its login system, replacing the current experience with a more modern, more secure one. This upgrade will involve a series of rolling feature releases beginning in early September 2024.
What will the new log in experience be after my nation has migrated?
Your control panel users and supporters will go to their usual login page but find the password field no longer there. They need to add their email address and click the sign-in button.
From here, users will go to a screen that looks like the following. Their email address will be auto-populated, and they can enter their password. They can initiate the reset password process from this page if they have forgotten their password.
For now, this is the only change you can expect to see. As more features roll out, you will be able to log in using social logins and multi-factor authentication, and there will be a section in your control panel where you can manage your login and security settings.
Will I have to change my password?
No, we will be carefully migrating email and password so no password changes will be necessary. Eventually, you may need to change your password to one that is more secure but it is not necessary at this point.
What email address will I use to log in after my nation is migrated to the new system?
The email address that has most often been used to log into your nation is the one that will be used for logging in after the migration.
We have a members-only area of our website, will their login be affected by this?
Yes, both control panel users of your nation, and your supporters who log in as supporters will be affected. Including those who log in to make changes to donations/credit cards and memberships in the Supporter Portal.
What if we want to opt out of this migration?
If there is a unique circumstance in your campaign or organization and you would like to opt out of this migration right now, please contact [email protected]. We will be happy to discuss your options. At some point, all customers will have to migrate so any exceptions will be temporary, and eventually your account will be migrated.
