How to create a saved filter that auto-tags

Tags can be automatically added or removed from profiles based on criteria you define by using saved filters with auto-tagging.

Steps to Create a Smart Filter

1. Navigate to Filters

Go to People > Filters in your control panel.

2. Build Your Filter Criteria

Define who should be included using tags, activity, or other criteria. For example, you might filter for people with tags "giraffe_petition_AB" OR "Event Attendee".

3. Name Your Filter

Enter a descriptive name in the "Name of filter" field (e.g., "Highly Engaged").

4. Set the Smart Tag

To set the smart tag, find the filter you just saved from the drop-down list and click "edit".

Enter the tag that will be automatically managed in the next screen. This tag will be added to profiles that meet your criteria and removed from those that don't.

5. Save

Click "Save filter" to activate your smart filter.

Notes

  • Tag data is queued for nightly updates at 9pm UTC.

  • Make sure that this tag hasn't been/isn't getting applied via any other means (e.g. manually), as this can result in data loss, should any of the people with that tag not meet the saved filter's criteria.
