Multi-factor authentication (MFA) and language support

NationBuilder’s login flow supports multiple languages to ensure a seamless and consistent experience for users across different regions.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Language Alignment with Website

The language used during the MFA login flow corresponds directly to the language of the specific NationBuilder website from which the login request is made. When a user attempts to log in from a site set in a particular language, the MFA process will be displayed in that same language. This design ensures a seamless and consistent login experience that matches the website's content.

Default Language Settings

If no specific website language is indicated during the login attempt—such as when logging directly into the supporter portal—the MFA flow will default to the language of the primary website associated with your nation.

Supported languages

The following languages are supported for the MFA login flow:

  • English (GB)

  • English (US)

  • Spanish

  • French (CA)

  • French (FR)

  • Bulgarian

  • Czech

  • Danish

  • German

  • Greek

  • Estonian

  • Finnish

  • Georgian

  • Croatian

  • Hungarian

  • Italian

  • Lithuanian

  • Latvian

  • Dutch

  • Polish

  • Portuguese

  • Romanian

  • Slovak

  • Slovenian

  • Swedish

  • Turkish

  • Welsh

For websites set to Maltese or Irish, the login experience will default to English.

MFA SMS Language Support

MFA-related text messages, such as verification codes, are also translated to match the language of the originating website. This feature ensures a fully localized experience for users who choose to receive their MFA verification via SMS.

However, currently, Welsh, Bulgarian, Latvian, and Slovenian are not supported for SMS, so text messages will be sent in English. For users seeking a fully translated experience, the authenticator app flow is available in these languages, allowing you to select this authentication method instead.

Supporter Portal Language

When supporters access the Login and Security view within the supporter portal, the interface will be translated into French or Spanish if one of these languages has been selected in your site settings.
