Who should manage my domain?

Easily determine if NationBuilder should manage your DNS settings or you should manage them yourself.

Choosing who manages your domain mostly depends on experience and the technical setup and expertise within your organization. Technical considerations include managing your domain DNS files and custom email addresses, if you have them. Take a look at these guidelines and feel free to reach out to your Onboarding Specialist or the support team if you still have questions.

NationBuilder should manage your domain if any of these statements are true for you:

  • Your custom domain is brand new and you are connecting it to your NationBuilder website for the first time.

  • You have no experience managing DNS records.

  • You do not have an email address set up with this custom domain already.

  • You want to send authenticated email blasts from NationBuilder without having to edit your own DNS settings.

You should manage your domain if any of these statements are true for you:

  • You have experience managing DNS, and know that you want the freedom to manage your own domain.

  • You have other DNS records in place for other services

  • You will not be connecting your custom domain to a website and do not plan on sending email blasts from NationBuilder.

  • Your custom domain contains ".gov". (Please email [email protected] for customized help getting set up in this case.)
