Helpful filters for fundraising in the People section
Use People filters to segment supporters based on their donation behavior so you can tailor your outreach and fundraising strategy.

Has a recurring donation where date started
Is your recurring donor campaign actually working?
How do you know if your most recent fundraising campaign is moving the needle on recurring donations?
The new recurring donation started filter lets you find everyone who became a recurring donor within a specific date range. Run it against the dates of your last campaign, to see what’s working.
Has a recurring donation/has no recurring donation
🎉 New! Added March 2026
See who has an existing recurring donation
The new recurring donation filter splits your database into two groups: people who give regularly now, and everyone else. Separate people who have a recurring donation now from those who have had one in the past
Has a recurring donation with frequency and status
🎉 New! Added March 2026
Find your active recurring donors by frequency and status
Not all recurring donors are the same. Some give monthly, some annually — and some donations are failing without anyone realizing.
The recurring donation frequency with status filter lets you combine frequency and status in one search, so you can find your active monthly donors, follow up on failing payments, or identify lapsed annual supporters before it's too late.
Donation amount is ______ within a date range
🎉 New! Added March 2026
Find everyone who donated over $500 this year to identify mid-level donors ready for a larger ask
The amount donated over time filter lets you segment your database by total giving within a date range — so you can build the right ask for the right person.
Recurring donation status
Filter people based on the status of their recurring donation.
Outreach Examples:
Identify donors with canceled recurring donations and re-engage them
Find supporters with failed or failing payments and follow up before they churn
Segment active recurring donors for stewardship or upsell campaigns
Total amount donated
Filter people based on how much they have donated over time, with optional date ranges.
Use cases:
Identify mid-level donors (e.g. $500+) for a higher-value ask
Find top donors within a specific campaign or timeframe
Segment donors by giving level for personalized messaging
Tip
People filters return supporter records, not individual transactions. Use these filters to build lists for outreach.
If you want to analyze individual donations or transaction activity, use the Finances section instead.
Total donors this year (People filter)
In the People section, this filter will list everyone who has donated between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025. Because it's in the People section, the focus is on who donated, and less on the amount they donated.

Powering your donor engagement strategy
The real power of these filters lies in their ability to drive targeted engagement and automation. By strategically using filters in both the People and Finances sections, you can create sophisticated communication workflows. Identify donors who haven't contributed in a while and trigger re-engagement campaigns, set up automated thank-you communications for consistent supporters, or create special outreach for donors at different giving levels. The Workflows automation feature is ideal for this.
These filters become your strategic tool for maintaining donor relationships, preventing donor churn, and ensuring no supporter falls through the cracks and they can save filters in the People section to see the results as often as needed. Whether it's sending a personalized check-in to a donor who's gone quiet or creating a special recognition program for long-term contributors, filters are your gateway to more intelligent, responsive donor management.
