Payment Processors for recurring donations
If your choose to use a third-party payment processor, you can use Authorize.net, PayPal, and PayPal Payflow Pro. To use PayPal Payflow Pro or Authorize.net, you will need to set up a merchant account with your bank. For Authorize.net, you must configure your account to accept recurring donations. If you use PayPal Express Checkout, you must have a business account.
Donor experience with NationBuilder
Using NationBuilder's integrated payment processing allows donors to select one-time or recurring payments on the same page. This interface will allow users to input their credit card information directly on your NationBuilder website. Once the user has submitted the payment, the transaction will be securely processed through our integration with Stripe.
Donor experience with PayPal
Using PayPal Express Checkout to process monthly donations and installments, a donor will be sent to the PayPal website to finalize the donation. They will have to log into their PayPal account or create a new PayPal account to complete the transaction. Even if you have configured your PayPal account to be able to accept recurring donations from donors who have not created PayPal accounts, this configuration is not compatible with the NationBuilder integration.
You will not be able to process monthly donations or installment payments from the control panel using PayPal. If you are sitting with the donor, you could begin the recurring donation via your website. To complete the transaction, the donor will need to use your computer and login to their PayPal account or create a new PayPal account.
Donor experience with PayPal Payflow Pro and Authorize.net
Using PayPal Payflow Pro or Authorize.net to process monthly donations and installments, a donor can complete the transaction on your website.
You can also easily process monthly donations and installment payments using PayPal Payflow Pro or Authorize.net from the control panel of your nation.
