Beginning in 2026, NationBuilder will no longer support donation pages using third-party payment processors. This change affects:
PayPal Express
Payflow
Authorize.net
Democracy Engine
eWay
eWay Rapid
Sage Pay
Stripe (Standard)
NationBuilder Payments, powered by Stripe, is our fully integrated, PCI-compliant solution. It supports one-time and recurring donations, express payments like Apple Pay and Google Pay, and built-in fraud protection. Donations are tracked directly in your control panel, and refunds and payouts are easily managed.
Our third-party payment processing options have limited functionality, and their underpinning technology has become outdated. After careful evaluation of their value, we’ve decided to stop supporting them. Deprecating legacy processors allows us to focus development efforts on improving NationBuilder Payments and delivering a more seamless experience for all customers.
Deprecation timeline
Support ends December 31, 2025. NationBuilder will no longer troubleshoot or provide fixes for third-party payment processors.
Full removal happens December 31, 2026. After this date, these processors will no longer work with NationBuilder donation pages.
How to switch to NationBuilder Payments
If you’re using Stripe Standard with Donation v1 pages:
You can continue using your Stripe account by connecting it as a NationBuilder Payments account:
Follow this guide to connect your Stripe Standard account.
Then, create a Donation v2 page to start collecting donations. Donation v2 pages support reCAPTCHA, express payment options, and both one-time and monthly contributions. We’re constantly adding more functionality to improve them.
If you’re using any other third-party payment processor:
Create a NationBuilder Payments account by navigating to:
Settings > Payment processors > New processor > Set up a new account, then follow this guide.
If you’re processing recurring donations through a third-party processor, we recommend migrating those payments to NationBuilder Payments to avoid interruption. Our Professional Services Team can help you: complete the Recurring Donation Migration form.
